Job Description: Junior High Cheerleading Coach
Position Summary: This coaching position will lead practices and games for the junior high cheer team, focusing on skill development, tactical understanding, and character growth at all events. Conduct practice session with training sessions and drills to improve student-athletes' technical abilities, physical fitness, and overall performance in the sport.
Reports To: Athletic Director
Knowledge, Skills & Implementation
- Knowledge of the fundamentals of proper tumbling techniques.
- Assess skills and hold tryouts to select members of the team
- Establish goals for improvement
- Develop practice schedule and organize practices to provide both individual development and team building
- Work with High School Coaching Staff and Assistant Athletic Director in scheduling facilities for practices
- Follow established procedures for uniforms and equipment
- The employee shall remain free of any alcohol or non-prescribed controlled substances abuse in the workplace throughout his/her employment in the corporation.
- Effectively communicate with the High School Coach and Program to maintain program development.
Instructional Leadership
- Work with student athletes during clinics, practices and events
- Establish and maintain standards of pupil behavior and provide proper supervision of students at all times
- Monitor academic performance of team members to ensure eligibility requirements
- Attend in-service training and staff meetings as needed.
- Inspect facilities and athletic courses for health and safety concerns.
- Supervise athletic clinics, practices and events as needed.
- Enforce rules of the team, including those regarding tardiness, missed practices and/or games, or unsportsmanlike conduct
Qualifications & Requirements
- Minimum of High School Diploma or GED
- Meet State and District requirements as an athletic coach
- Cheerleading coach experience preferredModel sport-like behavior and maintain appropriate professional conduct by being a positive role model
