DIRECTOR OF CURRICULUM AND INSTRUCTION
Nature and Scope of Job: The Director of Curriculum and Instruction serves as the district's chief instructional leader and the Superintendent's principal strategic partner on all matters of teaching and learning. The Director is responsible for the effective and efficient operation of the Curriculum and Instruction Department, encompassing curriculum, instruction, assessment, staff development, early childhood programming, and Title-funded programs.
The Director leads implementation of the Superintendent's instructional vision; designs and stewards districtwide instructional frameworks, non-negotiables, and systems of continuous improvement; drives school turnaround and academic acceleration efforts; builds leadership capacity throughout the organization; and ensures alignment of instructional investments, including Title funding, to district academic priorities.
The Director demonstrates leadership in school improvement, program development, curriculum integration, grant integration, instruction, and the application of technology across the curriculum; evaluates and provides leadership for the district's overall instructional program; and ensures the Curriculum & Instruction Committee and the Intervention Team are fully informed of matters relating to curriculum and instruction.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Hold a valid School Administrator or Principal certificate, Standard preferred, issued by NJDOE.
- Hold a Master's Degree or higher from an accredited college or university; Doctorate Degree in related field, preferred.
- Have at least five years of successful administration experience in public schools, with demonstrated experience leading K-12 instruction and academic programs.
- Knowledge of curriculum and instruction, including instructional framework design.
- Knowledge of state assessment requirements using data-driven and improvement science methods.
- Experience supporting turnaround schools, with demonstrated success improving achievement and narrowing achievement gaps in high-poverty and urban district settings.
- Ability to manage budget, grants and personnel; Experience with strategic planning and multi-year academic and budget planning.
- Ability to implement policy and procedures
- Ability to interpret and apply data to improve student outcomes
- Strong communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills
Terms:

- 12-month position; Ability to work on site during the hours required (some evenings)
