Position Title: High School Girls Tennis Assistant Coach

Reports To: Student Activities Director and Head Girls Tennis Coach

Position Summary

The High School Girls Tennis Assistant Coach assists the Head Coach in developing and supervising a successful girls tennis program. The Assistant Coach is responsible for helping student-athletes improve their tennis skills while promoting sportsmanship, leadership, academic success, and personal growth in alignment with school, league, and state association expectations.

The Assistant Coach is expected to help foster a positive and inclusive team culture that reflects the values of Brush High School.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist the Head Coach with organizing and conducting practices, matches, and team activities.
  • Teach and reinforce tennis fundamentals, stroke development, match strategy, conditioning, and sportsmanship.
  • Assist with player development through individual and group instruction.
  • Supervise student-athletes during practices, matches, travel, and team functions.
  • Promote academic achievement, leadership, and responsible behavior.
  • Communicate effectively with student-athletes, parents, administrators, and coaching staff.
  • Ensure compliance with district, league, and state athletic regulations.
  • Assist with equipment inventory, maintenance, and care of tennis facilities.
  • Model and promote sportsmanship, integrity, and ethical behavior.
  • Attend required meetings, trainings, and professional development.
  • Support off-season player development opportunities as approved by the Athletic Department.
  • Encourage participation in multiple sports and activities when appropriate.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Head Coach or Student Activities Director.

Qualifications

  • Previous tennis coaching or competitive playing experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of tennis rules, techniques, and match strategy.
  • Ability to effectively teach and motivate high school student-athletes.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Must meet all district and state certification requirements (CPR, First Aid, coaching certifications, etc.).

Working Conditions

  • Seasonal position requiring evenings, weekends, and travel.
  • Primarily conducted in outdoor tennis court environments with varying weather conditions.
