Position Overview
The Title I Paraprofessional provides instructional and academic support to students who benefit from additional assistance in reading, mathematics, and other core academic areas. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with teachers and staff to create a positive, supportive, and engaging learning environment.
Essential Responsibilities
- Provide individual and small-group academic support to students identified for Title I services.
- Assist students in developing foundational reading, writing, and/or mathematics skills.
- Reinforce classroom instruction and provide additional practice and support.
- Work closely with classroom teachers and Title I staff to implement instructional strategies and interventions.
- Monitor and document student progress as directed.
- Encourage student confidence, independence, and a positive attitude toward learning.
- Assist with classroom activities, materials, and instructional preparation.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding student information and records.
- Establish positive relationships with students, families, and staff.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the building administrator or Title I Coordinator.
Qualifications
- Minimum of an Associate’s degree or completion of two years of study at an institution of higher learning and/or successful passage of ETS Parapro or MTTC Basic Skills Test
- Experience, ability and desire to work with students
- Ability to work cooperatively with staff, students and adults
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
