HVAC Technician
Salary Range $69,000 - $82,000
Reports To: Supervisor of Facilities Schedule: Full-Time, 12 Months (7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday) Status: Essential Personnel
Position Summary The HVAC Technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and servicing the district's heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems. This position helps provide safe, comfortable, and energy-efficient learning environments while working closely with the Facilities Department to support all district buildings.
Qualifications • High School Diploma or equivalent • HVAC trade school, apprenticeship, or equivalent experience • EPA Refrigerant Certification • Valid driver's license • Required Pennsylvania background clearances
Primary Responsibilities • Inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain HVAC equipment throughout the district. • Respond to work orders and emergency service calls in a timely manner. • Perform preventive maintenance to improve equipment reliability and extend equipment life. • Work with the Building Automation System (BAS) to monitor and adjust HVAC operations. • Install or replace HVAC components as needed. • Coordinate with maintenance staff, custodians, contractors, and vendors to complete projects. • Order materials and maintain accurate records of parts, repairs, and completed work. • Follow all district safety procedures and report unsafe conditions. • Assist with snow removal and other facilities-related duties when needed. • Participate in after-hours emergency response and overtime assignments when necessary. • Perform other related duties as assigned by the Supervisor of Facilities.
Knowledge and Skills Successful candidates should have experience working with a variety of commercial HVAC equipment, including:
• Boilers • Chillers • Cooling towers • Heat pumps • Air handling units (AHUs) • Variable Air Volume (VAV) systems • Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) • Pumps and piping systems • Building Automation Systems (BAS)
The ideal candidate is dependable, safety conscious, organized, able to work independently or as part of a team, and committed to providing excellent service to staff and students.
Physical Requirements This position requires standing, walking, climbing ladders, lifting up to 75 pounds with assistance when needed, working in confined spaces, and performing tasks in various indoor and outdoor weather conditions.
