Position/Title: Certified Speech-Language Pathologists
Reports to: Director of Special Education
Qualifications:
1. Valid Illinois Teaching Certificate
2. Successful experience as a speech-language pathologist or experience in the assignment in questions within the previous three years.
3. Strong instructional, organizational and interpersonal skills.
General Responsibilities: Under the direction of the Special Education Director and building Principal, the speech-language pathologist is focused on helping students with a wide range of speech-language related programs to meet performance standards. This includes prevention, assessment, intervention, and program design efforts.
Duties:
1. Establish a screening process to determine current functioning and diagnosis of students with speech-language concerns.
2. Provide services as outlined in the Individualized Education Program in compliance with established state and federal guidelines.
3. Conduct assessments in collaboration with others to help identify students with communication disorders as well as to inform instruction and intervention.
4. Provide assistance to staff in the design and implementation of appropriate interventions and accommodations for students with communication disorders.
5. Develop plans for services, making recommendations and/or coordinating speech/language services with those of other disciplines when appropriate.
6. Coordinate meetings and processes for speech-language eligible students.
7. Arrange time and schedule to meet specified objectives and student needs.
8. Prepares timely and accurate reports and data including to Medicaid.
9. Gather and interpret data for individual students, as well as overall program evaluation to make decisions based on data.
10. Coordinate and/or collaborate with a range of individuals/agencies to promote and provide comprehensive services to students and families.
11. Provide and/or assist in professional development for staff, parents, and/or community.
12. Proficiently use technology to communicate, compile reports, and collect data.
13. Participate in building or program activities and meetings as appropriate.
14. Demonstrates confidentiality in relationships.
15. Work in cooperation with building principals, supervisors, and staff members to implement appropriate services.
16. Abide by the Teacher Expectations and Responsibilities outlined in the North Boone CUSD Teacher Handbook.
17. Assume other duties and special projects as assigned.
