Position Summary:
The Cabot School District is seeking a motivated and family-focused individual to serve as a HIPPY Home-Based Educator (HBE). HIPPY (Home Instruction for Parents of Preschool Youngsters) supports parents as their child's first teacher through home-based early childhood education and family engagement. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working with families, building relationships, and helping children prepare for kindergarten success.
The Home-Based Educator serves as a vital connection between families, children, Cabot Schools, and the HIPPY program by supporting parents as their child's first teacher. Through weekly home visits, family engagement, recruitment efforts, and ongoing communication, the HBE helps strengthen school readiness and promote positive family outcomes.
Essential Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Conduct weekly home visits with participating families, providing instruction, encouragement, guidance, and support to parents.
- Recruit, enroll, and retain eligible families in the HIPPY program.
- Maintain required documentation and program data in COPA and other designated systems.
- Participate in group meetings, parent engagement activities, developmental screenings, evaluations, weekly staff meetings, and other program events.
- Represent the HIPPY program and Cabot School District in a professional manner while communicating family needs and concerns to the HIPPY Field Coordinator.
- Complete required training, professional development, and other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Successful completion of all required background checks
- Reliable transportation and a valid driver's license
- Strong communication, organizational, and time-management skills with the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
- Basic computer and technology proficiency, including the ability to learn required data systems
- Ability to build positive relationships with families from diverse backgrounds while encouraging and supporting parents as their child's first teacher
- Ability to maintain confidentiality, professionalism, and dependability
- Experience working with children and families preferred
Contract Days : 180
Salary: Classified Paraprofessional Salary Schedule
