TRANSPORTATION ASSISTANT

The Secaucus Board of Education invites qualified and interested individuals to apply for the position of TRANSPORTATION ASSISTANT

                                        QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

• Experience in school transportation preferred.
• Two years' experience in word processing and computer knowledge required, with demonstrated ability to input, manipulate, and retrieve data
• Experience with transportation software preferred
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Valid New Jersey driver's license with driving privileges in good standing; CDL Class B with P&S endorsements or be able to obtain within two years.

BASIC FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assists with the development and administration of the transportation program to meet the safety and welfare of all students, participants, and the needs of the Town of Secaucus Recreation Program.
• Prepares annual State reports
• Coordinates with the Transportation Supervisor regarding accidents, incidents, and/or serious problems and acts when necessary
• Maintains payroll driver hours and account records for payroll departments
• Orders goods and services for the Transportation Department and prepares purchase orders as necessary
• Assists the Transportation Supervisor with new students, bus stops, route changes, and maintains records for routes and mileage
• Maintains and updates routing system
• Maintains record keeping and updating of private school roster. Prepares private school vouchers for the business office
• Reports on bus passenger discipline problems to the administrators responsible
• Performs other duties as directed by the Board or its designee

REPORTS TO:         Transportation Supervisor

SALARY AND EMPLOYMENT

Salary Range:   $52,000 - $60,000

Employment Period:   July 2026 – June 30, 2027
