Description

Role Overview

The Home & Hospital Teacher provides individualized, one-on-one academic instruction to secondary students who are temporarily unable to attend school due to medical, emotional, or other qualifying circumstances. This role ensures educational continuity, coordinates with classroom teachers, and supports students as they transition back to the traditional school environment.

  • Schedule: Flexible hours based on student needs and availability.
  • Location: Direct instruction provided in student homes or other assigned community/district settings.

Key Responsibilities

  • Individualized Instruction: Provide targeted, one-on-one instruction aligned with the student's current school curriculum, assignments, and learning objectives.
  • Collaboration & Alignment: Partner closely with classroom teachers to ensure continuity of education and smooth academic transitions.
  • Communication: Maintain regular, proactive communication with parents, guardians, and school staff regarding student progress and needs.
  • Documentation & Compliance: Maintain accurate records of instructional hours and student progress, while strictly adhering to district policies, confidentiality requirements, and state/federal regulations.

Job Requirements

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field.
  • Experience working with secondary students (grades 6–12).
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and adapt instruction to meet diverse learning needs.
  • Reliable transportation and willingness to travel to various local instructional sites.
