Position Overview
The Tredyffrin/Easttown School District seeks a passionate, student-centered, and culturally responsive educator to serve as a Spanish Teacher at Valley Forge Middle School. The successful candidate will inspire students to develop proficiency in the Spanish language while fostering an appreciation for diverse cultures and global perspectives.
This educator will create engaging learning experiences that promote communication, critical thinking, collaboration, and intercultural competence. Instruction should align with ACTFL World-Readiness Standards, Pennsylvania Academic Standards, and the district's World Language curriculum. The ideal candidate will be committed to supporting all learners in developing proficiency in listening, speaking, reading, and writing while creating an inclusive classroom environment where all students feel valued and supported.
Essential Responsibilities
- Design and implement rigorous, engaging, and developmentally appropriate Spanish language instruction aligned with district curriculum and ACTFL proficiency standards.
- Create a student-centered learning environment that promotes meaningful communication in Spanish and encourages active participation by all learners.
- Integrate authentic cultural resources, literature, media, and current events to deepen students' understanding of Spanish-speaking cultures and global perspectives.
- Differentiate instruction and assessment to meet the diverse academic, linguistic, and social-emotional needs of students.
- Utilize instructional technology and research-based practices to enhance student engagement and language acquisition.
- Assess student learning through a variety of formative and summative measures and provide timely, constructive feedback to support student growth.
- Collaborate with colleagues, support staff, and administrators to promote student success and continuous program improvement.
- Communicate effectively with students, families, and staff regarding student progress and learning goals.
- Participate actively in professional learning opportunities and remain current on best practices in world language instruction and assessment.
- Contribute positively to the school community and support district initiatives that foster a culture of belonging, respect, and academic excellence.
Qualifications
Required
- Valid Pennsylvania Spanish (PK-12 or K-12) Certification.
- Demonstrated knowledge of second-language acquisition and proficiency-based instructional practices.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills.
- Commitment to creating an inclusive and culturally responsive learning environment.
- Ability to effectively integrate technology into instruction and student learning.
Preferred
- Experience teaching Spanish at the middle school level.
- Experience implementing proficiency-based language instruction aligned with ACTFL standards.
- Experience working with diverse student populations and differentiated instructional practices.
Additional certification in another world language or related educational field.
