Description
Primary Purpose
Provide specialized instructional support, coaching, and technical assistance to Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE) teachers and staff to ensure the delivery of high-quality educational services for young children with disabilities. Collaborate with administrators, teachers, related service providers, and families to promote effective instructional practices, social-emotional development, positive behavior supports, compliance with special education requirements, and successful student outcomes. This position is dedicated exclusively to supporting the district's Early Childhood Special Education program.
Qualifications
Education/Certification
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
- Valid Texas Teaching Certificate.
- Valid Special Education Certification.
- Early Childhood Special Education experience and/or specialized training preferred.
Experience
- Minimum of three (3) years of successful teaching experience.
- Experience serving students with disabilities preferred.
- Experience in Early Childhood Special Education preferred.
- Experience providing professional development, mentoring, or instructional coaching preferred.
Special Knowledge/Skills
- Knowledge of early childhood development and developmentally appropriate practices.
- Knowledge of early childhood curriculum and instructional methodologies.
- Knowledge of social-emotional learning and positive behavior intervention strategies.
- Knowledge of federal and state special education laws and regulations.
- Knowledge of ARD committee processes, IEP implementation, and case management procedures.
- Ability to coach and support teachers through modeling, observation, and feedback.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with campus and district personnel.
- Ability to analyze student performance data and support instructional planning.
- Strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.
Major Responsibilities and Duties
Instructional Support
- Provide ongoing instructional coaching and support to ECSE teachers.
- Model effective instructional strategies and evidence-based practices within classroom settings.
- Support teachers in implementing developmentally appropriate instructional practices.
- Assist teachers in aligning instruction to IEP goals and individual student needs.
- Support implementation of district-approved curriculum and instructional resources.
- Assist teachers in monitoring student progress and utilizing data to inform instruction.
Teacher Development
- Mentor and support newly assigned ECSE teachers.
- Provide guidance regarding classroom management, instructional planning, and service delivery.
- Facilitate Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) focused on ECSE best practices.
- Develop and provide professional development opportunities for ECSE staff and parents.
- Assist teachers in implementing recommendations and action plans resulting from coaching and professional learning.
Social-Emotional Learning and Behavior Support
- Support implementation of social-emotional learning practices within ECSE classrooms.
- Assist teachers in creating positive, structured learning environments.
- Provide coaching regarding behavior management and positive behavior supports.
- Collaborate with campus teams to address behavioral concerns and support student success.
- Assist with implementation of individualized behavior supports and intervention plans.
Case Management and Compliance Support
- Support teachers with case management responsibilities and special education procedures.
- Provide guidance regarding ARD preparation, participation, and documentation.
- Assist teachers in implementing IEPs and monitoring student progress toward goals.
- Support compliance with federal, state, and district special education requirements.
- Collaborate with special education staff to ensure timely and accurate documentation.
Collaboration and Coordination
- Collaborate with campus administrators, teachers, speech-language pathologists, occupational therapists, physical therapists, diagnosticians, and other related service providers.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to support student success.
- Facilitate communication among service providers and instructional staff.
- Assist campuses with implementation of ECSE program expectations and initiatives.
Parent and Family Engagement
- Provide parent education and training opportunities.
- Support family engagement activities that strengthen home-school partnerships.
- Assist families in understanding instructional supports and services available to their child.
- Collaborate with staff to promote meaningful parent participation in the educational process.
Classroom Environment Support
- Assist teachers in developing effective classroom systems, routines, and schedules.
- Support implementation of visual supports, communication systems, and instructional accommodations.
- Promote learning environments that are developmentally appropriate and responsive to student needs.
