Classroom Support Aide
Position Type: Part-Time Support Aide
Description: Works under the direction of the principal and instructional coach to ensure continuity of instruction and student safety by providing versatile coverage across the school. This role serves as a specialized "roving" support member who fills critical gaps when "Specials" teachers or intervention aides are absent without a substitute. Additionally, when not providing classroom coverage, this position provides direct behavioral support and academic interventions to enhance the classroom learning environment.
Essential Job Functions
Instructional Continuity: Serve as the primary substitute for "Specials" classes (PE, Art, Music, Library, etc.) and small-group intervention sessions when regular staff or substitutes are unavailable.
Behavioral Support: Partner with classroom teachers to implement behavior management plans, provide de-escalation support, and foster a positive social-emotional climate for students. Small-Group
Intervention: Lead or assist with targeted academic interventions in reading or math as directed by the instructional coach or principal.
Classroom Assistance: Support teachers during core instruction by monitoring student progress, assisting with transitions, and helping maintain an organized learning environment.
Student Supervision: Assist with lunchroom and recess duty to ensure student safety and reinforce school-wide behavioral expectations.
Additional Duties:
Perform any other related duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide, and perform arithmetic operations as needed.
Ability to understand, apply and use personal computers and software applications (e.g., Word, Excel).
Ability to work with a diverse group of individuals.
Ability to maintain confidentiality of information regarding students, employees and others.
Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students, staff and others contacted in the course of work.
Ability to report work orally or in writing to supervisor as required.
Effective writing and verbal communication skills.
Work Environment
Works in standard office and school building environments.
Ability to work outdoors during outdoor student activities.
Qualifications Profile:
Any combination of education and experience providing the required skill and knowledge for successful performance would be qualifying. Typical qualifications would be equivalent to:
Must be a minimum of 18 years or older. ( Elementary Classrooms only)
High School diploma or equivalent.
FSLA Status Non Exempt
Contract: 29 hours per week
