Mental Health Therapist (2 Positions Available)

Job Summary:
Operating under the direction of the Coordinator of Mental Health Promotion, this position provides direct and indirect services to support students' emotional, behavioral, and social well-being.  This position evaluates student needs, delivers therapeutic interventions, and collaborates with educators, families, and community partners to promote a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment.  This position plays a key role in crisis intervention, prevention, and response efforts across the district.

Job Responsibility Description

1. Student Support and Service Delivery 

  • Conduct diagnostic, functional, and behavioral assessments, including interviews and observations, to determine students' mental health needs.
  • Provide individual and group counseling to address issues such as anxiety, depression, attendance concerns, behavior challenges, family conflict, and trauma.
  • Implement evidence-based therapeutic interventions and progress-monitoring strategies aligned with student goals and treatment plans.
  • Participate as a member of the Crisis Team to provide immediate intervention, risk assessments, safety planning, and referrals in response to emergencies (e.g., suicidal ideation, abuse, neglect, or threats to safety).
  • Support district attendance initiatives by identifying and addressing mental health barriers contributing to chronic absenteeism.
  • Collaborate with school-based teams to develop and implement behavior and safety plans that promote student success.

 

2. Documentation and Compliance

  • Maintain accurate and confidential electronic and written records in accordance with district, state, and federal requirements (e.g., FERPA, HIPAA).
  • Document and report student progress and outcomes to teachers, administrators, and other service providers as appropriate.
  • Prepare required reports, treatment summaries, and data to support program evaluation and compliance.
  • Review and interpret medical and mental health documentation as relevant to educational access and planning.

 

3. Collaboration and Communication

  • Collaborate with teachers, support staff, administrators, and families to coordinate mental health supports and promote a culture of wellness.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary teams (MTSS, IEP, 504, threat assessment, and student support teams) to align interventions and supports.
  • Provide consultation and professional development to staff on topics such as trauma-informed practices, social-emotional learning, de-escalation, and mental health awareness.
  • Serve as a liaison between schools, families, and community agencies to facilitate wraparound services and referrals.
  • Maintain effective communication with district mental health leadership and other clinical professionals.

 

4. Other Duties

  • Additional tasks, duties, and responsibilities may be assigned as needed/requested.
  • Participate in meetings, training activities and assist with screenings as needed.

 


Qualifications:
Acceptable demonstration of acceptable education and/or experience will be at the sole discretion of the District.

  • Master's Degree in Social Work or graduation from an accredited program
  • Two years of experience working with children and adolescents preferred
  • School district experience preferred
  • Must hold or be able to hold within one year, one of the DORA professional licenses listed below:
  • Colorado-Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC);
  • Colorado-Licensed School Social Worker (LSSW);
  • Colorado-Licensed Social Worker (SW) (Master's Level);
  • Colorado-Licensed Clinical Social Worker (SW) (Master's Level)


Working Conditions:
188 days / year

Salary & Benefits:
Mental Health Therapist Pay Salary Schedule Range:
$65,984 - $106,103 (Pending Board of Education Approval) based on one (1) FTE at one hundred eighty eight (188) days.

Hiring Range for External Candidates:
$65,984 - $90,886 (Pending Board of Education Approval)
*Mental Health Therapists are initially placed according to experience. Mental Health Therapists new to the District may be granted up to 15 years of experience, provided the experience occurred within the last 20 years
