Description

  • PreK Specialist- Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Provides direction, consultation, and coordination to ensure comprehensive and sequential curriculum and instruction.
  2. Collaborates with teachers and principals.
  3. Supports teachers and principals in identifying and effectively implementing high leverage instructional strategies including but not limited to:
    1. classroom environment
    2. content knowledge
    3. direct instruction
    4. formative instruction
  4. Conducts ongoing assessment of student learning and progress, and assists teachers and principals in modifying instructional methods to fit individual student's needs, including all subgroups, to reach or exceed curriculum standards and goals.
  5. Supports school core team members in the 90 day plan process.
  6. Documents teaching and student progress/activities/outcomes, develops lesson plans, models the necessary skills to perform assignments; assesses and provides feedback to administration and teaching staff regarding student progress and achievement and the effectiveness of the District curriculum and framework.
  7. Maintains familiarity with district and state standardized tests for the purpose of adapting curriculum to maximize student achievement on such tests.
  8. Provides for continuing improvement  of instruction through professional development, cooperation with building administrators, teacher observations and classroom visits.
  9. Coordinates with other professional staff members regarding assessments and remedial techniques; assists , coaches and models effective remedial instructional strategies for classroom teachers.
  10. Organizes and maintains a system for accurate and complete record keeping, grading, and reporting for related student activities and achievement as required by district procedures and applicable laws.
  11. Coordinates the selection, inventory and ordering of texts, teaching aids, software, supplies and equipment.
  12. Encourages parental involvement in students' education, and ensures effective communication with students and parents.
  13. Coordinates with other professional staff members, especially within grade level, and participates in faculty meetings and committees.
  14. Keeps current of developments in teaching and provides staff members with assistance and instructional material as appropriate.
  15. Continues to acquire professional knowledge and learn of current developments in the educational field by attending seminars, workshops or professional meetings, or by conducting research.
  • Education and Experience

Required

  1.  Master's Degree from an accredited college
  2. A valid NM level 3 license with endorsements as needed.
  3. 5 years of experience in public school administration and supervision and/or teaching
  4. Must be able to pass employment verification.
  5. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable.
