| Description of Position: The substitute teacher or teacher assistant is assigned to work in the absence of a regular employee to aid the school he/she is assigned. Work is performed under the supervision of the principal. | ||||
Substitute Teacher QUALIFICATIONS: Enrolled as a junior or senior in college majoring in education or in an academic area related to the area of the vacancy. **Non-Certified Substitute Teachers are required to take a FREE self-paced online skills training course and pass the test prior to orientation** **Must pass a criminal background and child abuse registry check.** **Must work at least four (4) days per month to remain active** Ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time; exhibit manual dexterity, to enter data into a computer; to see and read a computer screen and printed material with or without vision aids; hear and understand speech at normal classroom levels, outdoors and on the telephone; speak in audible tones so that others may understand clearly in normal classrooms, outdoors and on the telephone; physical agility to lift up to 25 pounds; to bend, stoop, climb stairs, walk and reach overhead. PREFERRED SKILLS: Deal with conflict effectively. Engage and motivate students to do their best. Take the initiative to be a continuous learner. Demonstrate strong leadership skills.

PAY SCALES: Teacher Assistant: $100/Day Long-term Teacher Assistant: $115/Day Teacher (Junior or Senior in College and Currently Enrolled as Education Major or in an academic area related to a vacancy): $125/Day Teacher (Bachelor's Degree): $140/Day Teacher (Certified): $150/Day Long-term Substitute Teacher: $160/Day | ||||
