Description

Primary Purpose:

Provide specialized instructional support within general education classrooms to students with disabilities, ensuring access to the general curriculum and promoting academic, behavioral, and social success. Collaborate with general education teachers to implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and foster an inclusive learning environment.

Qualifications:

  • Education/Certification:
    • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
    • Valid Texas teaching certificate with Special Education endorsement (EC–6 or EC–12)
    • ESL certification (preferred or willingness to obtain)?
  • Special Knowledge/Skills:
    • Understanding of special education laws, regulations, and best practices
    • Proficiency in developing and implementing IEPs
    • Ability to collaborate effectively with general education teachers, support staff, and parents
    • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
    • Competence in using data to inform instruction and monitor student progress
  • Experience:
    • Experience in inclusive classroom settings preferred
    • Familiarity with co-teaching models and differentiated instruction?

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Collaborate with general education teachers to plan and deliver instruction that meets the diverse needs of students with disabilities.
  • Implement IEPs, monitor student progress, and adjust instructional strategies accordingly.
  • Provide direct instructional support to students within the general education classroom.
  • Utilize various co-teaching models to support student learning.
  • Conduct assessments to evaluate student performance and inform instructional decisions.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records of student progress and IEP documentation.
  • Communicate regularly with parents regarding student progress and support strategies.
  • Participate in ARD (Admission, Review, and Dismissal) meetings and contribute to the development of IEPs.
  • Engage in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in special education.
  • Support the school's mission and values, promoting a positive and inclusive school culture.

Working Conditions:

  • Mental Demands: Maintain emotional control under stress; work with frequent interruptions; manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Physical Demands: Frequent standing, stooping, bending, pulling, pushing, and light lifting.
  • Environment: Classroom setting with occasional outdoor activities; exposure to various student behaviors.

    *Salary commensurate with experience
    *Starting pay is $66,000
    *Works 187 Day Calendar
    *Please note that this role requires in-person attendance and is not eligible for remote work.
