THE SCHOOL BOARD OF HIGHLANDS COUNTY
POSITION TITLE: Mental Health Therapist
ASSIGNMENT: Mental Health Therapist - Student Support Services

ADDITIONAL DESIRED JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Physical Requirements: Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force as frequently as needed to move objects
PRIMARY PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provides individual and small group counseling to students with emotional/behavioral disabilities
- Provides parent training for parents of students with emotional/behavioral disabilities
- Maintains a close, collaborative working relationship with the Behavior Specialist
- Works collaboratively with administrator, guidance staff, exceptional student education teachers and other school staff
- Attends specialized trainings and inservice programs such as Non-Violent Crisis Prevention Intervention and other Behavioral/Mental health trainings
- Participates collaboratively in staffings for students with emotional/behavioral disabilities when requested
- Participates in community agency meetings
- Consults with physicians, psychologists, psychiatrists and other diagnostic professionals regarding students with emotional/behavioral disabilities
ADDITIONAL DUTIES:
All other duties as assigned by supervising administrator
TERM:
Length of contract and number of hours worked are determined by specific allocation as approved annually during planning-budgeting process
APPRAISAL:
Performance will be appraised annually in accordance with School Board policies
PAY GRADE:
According to the School Board of Highlands County Salary Schedule
