Part-time Preschool Assistant for 2026-2027

Assumption Catholic School is seeking a preschool teacher beginning this fall. The position will start August 26th, 2026, or until filled and last until the end of the school year. Orientation may be on a day in August, and therefore please let the office know any conflicts that may arise.

Job Description:

Classroom Management

1. Assist/support the lead teachers in presenting the academic program to students.
2. Prepare materials and offer suggestions in the planning process with teachers.
3. Help with student coordination and classroom management.
4. Work individually with students and in small groups to support developmental skills.
5. Know the licensing requirements and keep student information records accordingly
6. Supervise students in the classroom, outside, and during breaks.
7. Alert the lead teacher to special needs of individual students.
8. Collect and display suitable material for educational displays; prepare displays; decorate classroom.
9. Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
10. Perform a variety of tasks such as planning lessons, communicating with families, photocopying, etc., as required.
11. Perform related work as required.

Reports to: Preschool Director/Elementary Principal

Hours of duty:

• 5.25 hours per day/ 15.75 hours per week: Mon/Wed/Fri. (7:30am to 12:45pm)

Rate of pay:

Salary: This is negotiable based on experience. This ranges from $19 to $21 per hour. Any offered salary is determined based on internal equity, internal salary ranges, market data, applicant's skills and prior relevant experience, degrees, and certifications.

Qualifications: (Only qualified applicants will be reviewed.)

• AA degree in ECE or equivalent (qualifications for assistant teacher can be found here: https://www.dcyf.wa.gov/sites/default/files/pubs/EPS_0037.pdf )
• Bloodborne Pathogens, CPR, First Aid, Food Handler's permit
• Childcare basics (or equivalent) for teaching Early Childhood Education (30-hour requirement)
• Portable Background Check required
• Willingness to promote and educate Christian values and Biblical teachings.
