Position: Lifeguards - Various hours/shifts (Posting Number 2627-3754)
Location: Aquatic Center
Start Date: Varies
Requirements:
- Lifeguards must be 16 years of age.
- Current lifeguard certification, first aid, professional CPR/AED certification are required.
- Thorough knowledge of application of lifeguarding, surveillance and rescue techniques.
- An understanding of facility characteristics, rules, policies and procedures.
- Leadership, public relations and decision-making skills are essential.
- Pre-employment testing of life-guarding skills and knowledge are required.
Other responsibilities include:
- Recognize and respond effectively in emergencies.
- Enforce all aquatic facility policies, rules, and regulations
- Inspect the facility on a daily schedule and report any unsafe conditions or equipment to the head lifeguard/supervisor
- Complete records and reports
- Participate in regular in-service training sessions
- Exercise regularly to maintain fitness level (strength and endurance)
- Work in conjunction with head lifeguard to accomplish facility set up and alterations (I.e. movement of pool lanes and bulkhead)
- Initiate the emergency response plan and call EMS (911) if necessary
- Complete additional duties as assigned by the supervisor or director
Salary: Based on experience and level of responsibility.
