School: Custer County Childcare Center.
Position Title: Child Care Teacher Assistant -Preschool Classroom
Position Start Date: August 12, 2026
FTE: .5 (with possibility for 1.0 FTE)

Summary:
Early Childhood Teachers, under the supervision of the Director, are responsible for creating a safe, engaging and stimulating environment for young children. Teachers support children's social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development through developmentally appropriate activities, hands-on learning experiences, intentional instruction, and implementation of district-approved curriculum. The ideal candidate is passionate about early childhood education and committed to fostering positive relationships with children, families, and staff. This position is Monday - Thursday.
Responsibilities:
- Planning and implementing developmentally appropriate that is aligned to and enriches district approved curriculum.
- Manage daily attendance
- Support an inclusive learning environment that supports early intervention, social-emotional and or human services when necessary.
- Create a warm, friendly and cooperative learning environment in which preschoolers and families feel comfortable and secure. Provide daily individualized personal care.
- Communicate regularly with parents about student progress, including tri-annual parent-teacher conferences, monthly newsletters and informal communication as necessary.
- Participate in training and professional learning opportunities that allow for continued licensure and growth.
- Remain current on all required training and total number of training hours required by the Colorado Department of Early Childhood.
- Work collaboratively with Custer County Early Childhood Education
- Actively participate CCECEC staff meetings, team meetings and evaluations.
- Communicate positively and effectively regarding student needs, progress and challenges with other staff members and supervisors.
- Maintain confidentiality and a high level of ethical behavior and professionalism.
Perform other duties as assigned and agreed upon.
Qualifications
- Must be an Early Childhood Teacher qualified as established under Colorado Code of Regulations 7.702.45. Must be 18 years of age and meet at least one of the following qualifications:
- Bachelor's, Master's or Doctorate Degree from an accredited college/university with a major area of study in: child development, child psychology, ECE, ECSE, education leadership/admi, elementary education, family & human development, family studies or SpEd.
- Bachelor's, Master's or Doctoral degree from an accredited college or university with a major area of study in any area and an additional 3, 3-semester credit hour course in ECEC and one of the following: Introduction to early childhood professions or early childhood guidance strategies for children or Colorado Pyramid Model Training.
- Associates degree from an accredited college or university in ECE or Child Dev which must include 2 3-semester hours in either Introduction to early childhood professions or early childhood guidance strategies for children or Colorado Pyramid Model Training.
- A current professional teaching license issued by CODEC with endorsement in elementary ed, ECE, ECSE, ECSE specialist
- Current Early Childhood Professional Credential Level 2 or higher in Version 3.0 as determined by PDIS.
- Current certification as a Child Development Associate (CDA) in: Center-based, preschool; Center-Based Infant-Toddler or Family Child care
- Completion of a course training approved by Department & published on Departments approval list & 9 months (1,365) of verified experience in the care and supervision of 4 or more children less than 8 years of age who are not related
- 3 months (455) of verified experience in the care and supervision of 4 or more children less than 8 years of age who are not related to the individual and the completion of 18 semester credit hours from an accredited college or university in ECEC with 2 course: Introduction to early childhood professions or early childhood guidance strategies for children or Colorado Pyramid Model Training.
- 21 months (3.185) of verified experience in the care and supervision of 4 or more children less than 8 years of age who are not related. Satisfactory experience includes being a licensee of FCCH, teachers aide or a teacher in a childcare center, preschool or elementary school. In addition the individual must either possess a current Early Childhood professional credential level 1 or higher in Version 3.0 OR complete 2 3-semester credit hour courses from accredited college or university in ECEC with one course as either Introduction to early childhood professions or early childhood guidance strategies for children or Colorado Pyramid Model Training.
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs to assist children in toileting along with delegated health care duties.

Preferred:
- Strong knowledge in ECE and best practices including children's physical, emotional, social and cognitive development.
- General knowledge of State of Colorado Child Care Licensing Rules
- Supervisory and interpersonal skills
