POSITION: MANITOU SPRINGS ELEMENTARY SCHOOL PRESCHOOL GROUP LEADER

 

LOCATION: MANITOU SPRINGS SCHOOL DISTRICT

                     MANITOU SPRINGS, CO  80829

 

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must complete a fingerprint/background screening.
  • PDIS 3.0 Level 2 credential required or an Early Childhood Teacher (ECT) qualification or Colorado Early Childhood Teaching License
  • Minimum of two years' experience working with children 3 to 5 years of age desired
  • Knowledge of early childhood development principles is an advantage
  • CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire)
  • CPI Training (or willingness to obtain upon hire)

JOB DESCRIPTION: The following statements of essential functions and responsibilities are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by individuals assigned to this position. These statements are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all duties and responsibilities required of all personnel within this position. Actual duties and responsibilities may vary depending on building assignment and other factors determined with supervisor and/or building principal.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for the general supervision and management of a single group of preschool children
  • Work alongside and be comfortable under the supervision instructing teacher
  • Manage the daily operation of a preschool classroom including daily preparation and clean-up
  • Plan and execute high-quality, age-appropriate curriculum in accordance with the Program's mission and philosophy
  • Plan and prepare the learning environment according to weekly lesson plans, including but not limited to setting up interest centers and preparing needed materials
  • Maintain upkeep of all educational equipment and materials in classroom, including storage and organization of shared materials
  • Assist in creating weekly parent newsletters effectively describing classroom activities
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with children, parents and families in the preschool programs
  • Demonstrate positive and constructive written and oral communication skills at all times
  • Treat all children with dignity and respect  
  • Help children establish good eating habits and personal hygiene; assist with toilet training
  • Assist in program evaluation, student observation and documentation, parent involvement and family conferences
  • Assist in preparation and execution of parent/teacher conference records and Individual Development Plans if necessary
  • Work with parents to promote understanding of their child's growth and development, school adjustment, classroom behavior and developmental progress
  • Provide administrative support to the Preschool Teacher and assist with special projects as assigned
  • Attend meetings, conferences and trainings as directed by the Preschool Teacher and School Principal
  • Maintain a professional attitude at all times
  • Assist with other duties as assigned by the lead teacher or school administration.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds.
  • Ability to stand, walk, sit on the floor, and actively engage with children for extended periods.
  • Ability to move quickly to address safety or behavioral concerns.
  • Work primarily takes place in a school setting, with occasional off-site meetings, trainings, or events.

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 181 day calendar, 7.25 hours per day

FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt Classified
