QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
- Clinical Nursing experience and related Nursing experience.
- Vocational Authorization in Health Occupations or Annual Authorization Eligibility.
- Basic Life support CPR Instructor Certification.
- Red Cross First Aid Certification/Responding to Emergencies.
- Be recognized as a collaborative instructional team member
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Teach Health Sciences to high school students using state guidelines for curriculum.
- Teach hands-on entry level job skills in Health Sciences including vital signs, transferring skills, CPR, First Aid and other basic health care skills
- Arrange for speakers to present their field in healthcare Maintain classroom lab with up-to-date equipment
- Maintain classroom library with resources and supplemental books and publications
- Collaborate with other content area teachers, especially in science department, in implementing the curriculum
- Utilize the Internet for research and curriculum enhancement Survey area healthcare providers for participation in clinical program
- Place students in appropriate individualized clinical settings for second semester based on each student's interest and performance during the first semester
- Gather feedback from students and placement mentors to use for program development Maintain an active advisory committee representing various healthcare settings and post-high school education programs
- Participate in the Washtenaw Community College articulation program Assist students in health care career/college planning
- Plan and supervise students providing primary care programs relating to tobacco use prevention and AIDS awareness
- Work with special education consultants, social workers and school psychologists to provide opportunities for students with disabilities to participate in this program.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations Communicate effectively and present information both in oral and in written form
REASONING ABILITY: Define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Interpret an extensive variety of statistical information and data related to student achievement.
OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES: Interact with the public and other staff as required. Apply knowledge of current replicated research and techniques related to sensory issues.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision such as to read handwritten or typed material, and the ability to adjust focus. The position requires the individual to meet multiple demands from several people and interact with the public and other staff.
