Position Summary:
The Assistant Varsity Football Coach - Equipment Manager is responsible for the inventory, issuance, maintenance and collection of equipment. The coach will also assist with the development and implementation of the program, focusing on the growth and performance of student-athletes while fostering teamwork, sportsmanship, and academic excellence. This position offers an exciting opportunity to make a significant impact on the development of young athletes, both in their athletic skills and in fostering personal growth through teamwork and sportsmanship.  

Position Responsibilities:

  • Coaching & Training:
    • Develop and implement practice schedules, drills, and conditioning routines to enhance individual skills and team cohesion.
    • Instruct players in the fundamentals of the game
    • Evaluate players' abilities, provide constructive feedback, and help improve their performance in competition and practice.
    • Coach during games, ensuring proper technique, strategy, and sportsmanship are upheld.
    • Manage and rotate players in games to ensure equitable playing time and team development.
  • Equipment Management:
    • Managing and tracking equipment issued to players
    • Setup and teardown of equipment on game nights
    • Collection of game uniforms and laundry
    • Maintenance and inventory of equipment
    • Forecasting of purchases and collection of estimates
  • Communication & Collaboration:
    • Maintain clear and timely communication with student-athletes, parents, and school administration regarding practice schedules, game schedules, and any updates.
    • Attend staff meetings and work with the other coaches to plan team strategies and improve the overall program.
    • Ensure all team activities and decisions are aligned with the school's mission, values, and athletic department policies.


Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • College-level coursework in physical education, kinesiology, or related field preferred.
  • Previous coaching experience at the high school or collegiate level preferred.
  • Playing experience at the high school level or above is highly desirable.

 

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Coaching Knowledge:
    • Strong knowledge of football fundamentals, strategy, and game rules.
    • Ability to teach technical skills in a clear, motivating, and supportive manner.
    • Understanding of the emotional and developmental needs of high school athletes.
  • Leadership & Communication:
    • Strong leadership abilities to motivate and manage diverse groups of student-athletes.
    • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to give constructive feedback and interact positively with students, staff, and parents.
    • Ability to maintain discipline while fostering a positive, encouraging environment.
  • Organization & Time Management:
    • Strong organizational skills to effectively plan practices, games, and team activities.
    • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously while maintaining a focus on team development.
  • Teamwork & Collaboration:
    • Ability to work as part of a coaching staff, collaborating with other coaches and assistants to achieve team success.
    • Ability to promote a positive team culture that emphasizes respect, teamwork, and accountability.
  • Adaptability:
    • Ability to adjust coaching strategies based on the needs of individual players or changes in game situations.
    • Willingness to continuously learn and implement new coaching techniques and philosophies.



Stipend: $2,800 (for full season)



SCHOOL SAFETY CLEARANCE:  The successful candidate will be subject to a fingerprint and background check as a condition of employment.  All fees required for this check (estimated $73.00) will be the responsibility of the successful applicant.
