PBIS Paraprofessional
Primary Purpose
Assist in the implementation of campus Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) systems by providing behavioral, social-emotional, and academic support to students. Work collaboratively with teachers, counselors, administrators, and support staff to help maintain a positive and structured learning environment that supports student success.
Qualifications
Education/Certification
- High school diploma or GED required
- Associate's degree or college hours preferred
- CPI or behavior intervention training preferred (or willingness to obtain)
Experience
- Experience working with children in an educational setting preferred
- Experience supporting students with behavioral or social-emotional needs preferred
Major Responsibilities and Duties
- Support implementation of campus PBIS systems and expectations
- Assist students with behavior regulation, coping strategies, and conflict resolution
- Provide support during transitions, classroom instruction, lunch, recess, and other structured/unstructured settings
- Build positive relationships with students while maintaining consistent expectations and boundaries
- Help reinforce campus behavior expectations and incentive systems
- Collaborate with teachers, counselors, administrators, and special programs staff regarding student behavior supports
- Assist with behavior documentation and data collection as directed
- Support students in de-escalation and functioning within a classroom
- Supervise students assigned to intervention, reflection, or reset areas as needed
- Maintain confidentiality regarding student information and campus matters
- Follow district safety procedures and campus protocols at all times
- Participate in required trainings and professional development opportunities
- Perform other duties as assigned by the campus administration
