Holland Public Schools is located in Holland, Michigan. The district has four elementary schools, one middle school and one high school and has an enrollment of approximately 3000 students. We offer a dual language immersion program in Spanish in grades K-8. Title: Instructional Assistant - ECSE/ Inclusion
Location: Jefferson Elementary
Terms: School-Year: Part-Time (29 hours/ week)

Compensation: $17.31 - $20.90/ hour (IA - Level 2)

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
- Support Children in Daily Routines and Instructional Activities
- Assist the lead classroom teacher in establishing and maintaining a structured daily schedule.
- Support classroom activities and help ensure smooth transitions between routines and learning experiences.
- Assist children during meal times, rest times, toileting, and other daily routines while promoting independence and consistency.
Help maintain a safe, organized, and engaging classroom environment.
- Work Collaboratively Under the Direction of the Lead Classroom Teacher
- Follow the guidance of the lead teacher to implement developmentally appropriate lessons and activities.
- Participate in classroom planning discussions by sharing ideas and feedback.
- Assist with preparing instructional materials, classroom resources, and learning centers.
Work cooperatively with classroom staff to support student learning and behavior expectations.
- Collect Student Data as Needed
- Observe and document children's behavior, development, and progress according to program guidelines.
- Maintain accurate and timely records of observations and assessments.
Share collected information with the lead teacher to support instructional planning and individualized student support.
- Communicate Effectively with Young Children and Adults
- Interact with children in a positive, respectful, and nurturing manner.
- Communicate professionally and effectively with colleagues, families, and community partners.
Collaborate with staff to address classroom concerns and support student success.
- Demonstrate a Willingness to Learn Best Practices in Preschool Settings
- Participate in professional development and training opportunities related to early childhood education.
- Stay informed about current preschool practices, licensing requirements, and instructional strategies.
Apply newly learned techniques and strategies to improve classroom instruction and student outcomes.
- Additional Responsibilities
- Maintain confidentiality regarding students, families, and program information.
- Follow district policies, licensing regulations, and health and safety procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the lead teacher or administration.
QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must demonstrate the following: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.
- Experience working with preschool-aged children in an early childhood education setting.
- Knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices and techniques for young learners.
- Ability to successfully pass a child care background check, including fingerprinting and criminal history review.
- Commitment to maintaining a safe, nurturing, and secure learning environment for all children.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills when interacting with children, families, and staff.
- Willingness to learn and apply best practices in preschool education through ongoing professional development.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
While performing the essential functions of this job the employee is regularly required to work in a typical office setting, use standard office equipment, read printed materials and a computer screen, and communicate in person or over the telephone.
