POSITION: Graduation Coach

LOCATION:  Dougherty High School

JOB SUMMARY:
The Dougherty County School System is seeking a dedicated, student-centered, and results-driven Graduation Coach to support student achievement, engagement, attendance, and on-time graduation efforts at Dougherty High School. The Graduation Coach serves as a key advocate for students by identifying barriers to academic success, implementing intervention strategies, monitoring progress toward graduation, and collaborating with families, school personnel, and community partners to improve student outcomes.

The Graduation Coach works proactively to reduce dropout rates, increase student persistence, and ensure students are equipped with the academic, social-emotional, and postsecondary supports needed for success beyond high school.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university required; valid Georgia certification in one or more of the following areas preferred: Teaching, School Counseling, School Social Work, or Educational Leadership.
  2. A minimum of five (5) years of successful teaching experience;
  3. Experience working with at-risk youth, student support services, counseling, mentoring, or school leadership preferred;
  4. Knowledge of graduation requirements, student support systems, and intervention strategies;
  5. Demonstrated ability to analyze and monitor student data;
  6. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
     

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:  

  1. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive relationships with students, families, staff, and community stakeholders;
  2. Ability to motivate and mentor students from diverse backgrounds;
  3. Ability to analyze academic, attendance, and behavioral data to support student success initiatives;
  4. Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  5. Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive situations professionally;
  6. Strong organizational and time management skills;
  7. Ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team;
  8. Proficiency in educational technology platforms, student information systems, and Microsoft Office/Google Workspace applications.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Identifies and monitors students at risk of academic failure, chronic absenteeism, or dropping out of school;
  2. Develops and implements individualized intervention and support plans for identified students;
  3. Monitors student progress toward graduation requirements, including credits, assessments, attendance, and academic performance;
  4. Conducts regular meetings with students and families to discuss academic progress, attendance concerns, graduation status, and postsecondary goals;
  5. Collaborates with counselors, administrators, teachers, social workers, and support staff to coordinate interventions and student supports;
  6. Assists students in developing academic, career, and postsecondary plans;
  7. Facilitates mentoring, attendance improvement, and dropout prevention initiatives;
  8. Supports student transition programs and re-engagement efforts for students who have withdrawn or are at risk of withdrawal;
  9. Coordinates with community agencies and external organizations to provide resources and support services for students and families;
  10. Maintains accurate documentation, intervention records, and progress monitoring data;
  11. Assists with the implementation of graduation awareness campaigns, credit recovery opportunities, and student recognition initiatives;
  12. Utilizes data to evaluate program effectiveness and recommend improvements;
  13. Participates in professional learning opportunities and district initiatives related to student success and graduation outcomes;
  14. Demonstrates prompt and regular attendance;
  15. Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Principal or designee.



REPORTS TO:  Principal

SALARY RANGE:  Ten-Month Contract - Competitive salary and excellent benefits package in accordance with the DCSS Compensation Guide.
