ASSISTANT BUILDING SECRETARY - PART TIME (7:45am - 12:30pm)
Evergreen School District seeks an Assistant Building Secretary to join one of the leading K-8 school districts in the state of Montana. Evergreen’s mission is to enable students to become responsible citizens and lifelong learners by ensuring quality instruction in a nurturing environment. The Assistant Building Secretary assists and supports the school office with a variety of duties. This position reports directly to the Building Principal.
Preferred Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma minimum
Current knowledge of modern office practices and procedures
Working knowledge of all office equipment and basic technology skills
Word processing 40-50 words per minute
First Aid/CPR
Job Responsibilities:
Perform duties of attendance clerk, clerical, typing, computer work, enroll/withdraw students
Displays outstanding public relations promoting a kind, welcoming environment for staff, students, and visitors
Answer telephones, take messages and relay information, assist with mail
Schedules school busses, coordinates substitutes as needed
Assist in the administration of first aid and/or medication under appropriate circumstances
Assist staff members in preparation of instructional materials
Assist with disaster drills
Maintain building inventories
Assists in graduation preparation, monthly newsletter, and daily announcements as needed
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Ability to perform clerical work
Ability to use good written and oral communication skills
Ability to use word processing skills and operate office equipment
Ability to work with people and clearly communicate
Ability to have good organizational and filing skills
Ability to use accuracy with numbers and bookkeeping skills
Ability to maintain confidentiality and display good public relation skills
Ability to be flexibility and understanding
Ability to act with initiative and good judgment
Ability to plan ahead and maintain accurate documentation
Ability to multi-task
Physical Demands:
Works inside the school building in a controlled, well-lit environment
Requires prolonged sitting
Constant interaction with others
Occasional lifting of 20 pounds or less
Evaluation:
Performance to be evaluated annually by the Building Principal
Terms of Employment:
Hourly, Remuneration contingent upon preparation and experience
Health insurance, leave, and retirement provided
