The Iron County School District is seeking a Full Time Special Education Life Skills and Transition Coordinator beginning in August for the 2026-2027 school year.
The primary responsibility of the Special Education Life Skills and Transition Coordinator is to ensure that all students with disabilities receive coordinated, results-oriented transition services as part of a free appropriate public education (FAPE), as specified in the Individualized Education Program (IEP), designed to facilitate movement from school to post-secondary education, employment, and independent living. The Special Education Life Skills and Transition Coordinator will provide leadership, coordination, and training for special educators, related service providers, and staff, while collaborating with Iron County community partners and businesses, to ensure the delivery of high-quality, compliant, and meaningful transition services for all eligible students within the Iron County School District.
- Ensures that transition services comply with state and federal regulations, including requirements under IDEA for secondary transition planning beginning at the appropriate age.
- Ensures that students with disabilities have measurable postsecondary goals and coordinated transition services documented within the IEP that are individualized, data-driven, and results-oriented.
- Coordinates district-wide transition programming, including post-secondary readiness, career exploration, work-based learning opportunities, and independent living skill development in collaboration with Iron County community partners and local businesses.
- Develops and maintains partnerships with community agencies, Pre-ETS, vocational rehabilitation services, higher education institutions, and local businesses to expand authentic learning and employment opportunities for students.
- Supports compliance monitoring of transition components within IEPs and provides feedback and training to staff to ensure alignment with best practices and legal requirements.
- Coordinates and supports work-based learning experiences, internships, and job coaching supports in partnership with local businesses and community organizations.
- Responds to parent and student questions, concerns, and/or requests related to transition services and post-secondary planning.
- Provides and supports direct instruction in transition-related courses and supports implementation within secondary and post-secondary settings.
- Supports the development and implementation of student-centered transition practices that promote self-advocacy, independence, and meaningful post-school outcomes.
- Regular, reliable, and predictable attendance and job performance is required.
