Qualifications
- Coursework, training, or certification in public safety, school safety and security, emergency services, emergency management, or related disciplines.
- Strong organizational, communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills
- Exceptional writing and verbal communication skills, including drafting policies, procedures, training materials, and informational reports.
- Knowledge of emergency management and emergency preparedness methodology, preferably in a public school district or governmental entity.
- Strong knowledge of law enforcement, school security, criminal justice procedures, practices, and applicable laws.
- Working knowledge of security-related technology.
- Skilled in developing and delivering training to small and large groups.
- Successful experience with a law enforcement agency, governmental entity, or educational institution.
- Law enforcement credentials or experience preferred, including Georgia POST certification or school-based safety experience.
Responsibilities
- Direct Safety and Security Services programs and functions affecting the safety, security, and emergency preparedness of District campuses, facilities, students, staff, and visitors.
- Work collaboratively with campus staff and District departments to provide students and staff with safe and productive learning environments.
- Serve as liaison between the District and local/state law enforcement agencies.
- Develop, coordinate, and implement operational and safety plans for special events.
- Direct regular review and updates of campus emergency operations plans in conjunction with local law enforcement.
- Coordinate emergency preparedness training and related activities with campuses and outside agencies.
- Foster ongoing positive relationships between the District and local law enforcement, fire departments, and emergency management departments.
- Attend and lead meetings of District stakeholders to present safety and security initiatives and respond to questions regarding safety-related events.
- Follow all rules, regulations, and policies of Colquitt County Schools and directives from supervisors.
- Coordinate, monitor, implement, and evaluate the district's school safety and security program.
- Provide risk and threat assessments throughout the district as needed.
- Conduct tabletop exercises and training opportunities for current and new district administrative staff.
- Conduct regular safety walkthroughs with campus and department administrators.
- Address campus, parent, student, and community concerns and communicate appropriately with District and campus administrators.
- Plan, develop, recommend, implement, and evaluate policies, procedures, and programs related to school safety practices.
Terms of Employment
Full-time work schedule on a 200-day contract. Salary and work year to be established by the Colquitt County Board of Education.

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on evaluation of personnel.
