Thatcher Elementary School Principal (Grades 3-6)

TERM OF EMPLOYMENT: 12 month
COMPENSATION: Base $87,474
REPORTS TO: Superintendent
BENEFITS: As per District Policy
INCENTIVES: 3% Performance Pay
FUNCTION
The Elementary School Principal manages the total school program and provides instructional leadership to staff, including curriculum implementation and staff development. The Principal is responsible for day-to-day building administration and for the safety and welfare of students and staff. The Principal enforces school policy, provides discipline as necessary, and promotes the optimum educational development of every student.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Master's degree from an accredited college or university.
- Valid Arizona teaching and administrative certificate.
- Minimum three (3) years successful teaching and administrative experience in a public school.
- Training and/or experience in area(s) of elementary education i.e. early childhood development, elementary curriculum construction, child/adolescent psychology.
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Establish and maintain positive working relationships with students, staff and the community.
- Prepare the school's budget. Manage expenditures and related processes.
- Maintain current information on educational research and legislative reforms
- Implement Board, State and Federal policies and procedures.
- Establish educational priorities. Monitor curriculum planning. Supervise instruction.
- Participate in employment processes. Direct certified and classified personnel. Evaluate staff performance.
- Recommend personnel for employment; supervise certified/classified personnel.
- Recommend/present in-service training.
- Develop/administer a student discipline program.
- Prepare reports and correspondence.
- Direct the preparation and maintenance of school records and reports.
- Maintain knowledge and necessary skill in the current trends and practices of the profession.
- Participate in district educational meetings for the purpose of developing a stronger educational program.
- Annually evaluate, update and implement programs, procedures and improvement plans.
- Availability to work beyond normal working hours.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

- Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relations with co-workers, vendors, students, parents, and the general public and others having business with school district.
- Skill in operating personal computers utilizing a variety of software applications.

- Quiet to loud noise levels
- Substantial written and oral communication.
- Standing, sitting, listening for extended periods of time.
- Extensive indoor/outdoor movement in monitoring buildings and grounds.
- Use of specific vision abilities: close, distance, depth perception.
- Moderate lifting and maneuvering.
- Occasional travel.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Twelve-month contract. Vacation and Accumulated Leave in accordance with Governing Board policy. Salary as determined by the Governing Board.
EVALUATION
Performance of this position will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Governing Board policy on evaluation of administrative personnel.
