POSITION DESCRIPTION
POSITION: Instructional/Non-Instructional Aide
POSITION TYPE: Classified – Instruction/Non-Instructional Aide - Salary Schedule
QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or equivalent is recommended.
- Shall show evidence of demonstrated teaching, educational skills and interest in students and their education.
- Shall have the ability to communicate and deal with students, teachers and the public in a congenial and positive manner.
- Shall have demonstrated aptitude and competence for assigned responsibilities.
- Shall exhibit acceptable standards of emotional stability, moral character, sound health and be physically able to perform necessary job responsibilities.
- Shall exhibit a pleasant and dignified classroom manner, be neat in appearance and have the ability to adjust to change.
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
CONTRACT
WORK DAYS: As per Board Agreement. Instructional Aides work the school calendar for students
RESPONSIBLE TO: Classroom Teacher and Building Principal
SUPERVISES: N/A
GENERAL
RESPONSIBILITIES: To assist the teachers in providing a well organized, smoothly functioning classroom environment in which students can take full advantage of the instructional program and available resource materials.
SPECIFIC DUTIES
AND
RESPONSIBILITIES: Under the supervision of a certified teacher, assists in preparation of classroom activities. Works with small groups of students to reinforce material initially introduced and provided by the teachers.
- Assists individual students in need of special attention.
- Performs routine clerical duties as requested and directed by teachers.
- Guides independent student, enrichment work and remedial work set up by teachers.
- Assists and sets up media equipment, software and supplies.
- Assists teachers with non-instructional duties as required.
- Assists teachers in checking workbooks, notebooks, correcting papers and supervising testing and make-up work.
- Assists in drill work.
- Assists with reading, storytelling, etc.
- Assists small groups of student in the media resource center.
- Participates in professional growth and in-service training programs.
- Assists teachers in duties relating to the supervision of playground, study hall, cafeteria, bus loading activities, etc.
- Assists teachers in catalogues, files instructional materials and maintains an inventory of supplies and equipment.
- Performs such other duties as requested by the certified teacher and Building Principal.
