Calendar and Compensation

  • Intern II Rate = $28/hour
  • Preferred start: 6/01/2026
  • 30-40 hours per week for 12 weeks
    • Mondays: 1/2 Day AM
    • Tuesdays: Full Day
    • Wednesdays: Full Day
    • Thursdays: Full Day
    • Fridays: 1/2 Day AM
  • Academic credit may be available through the student's institution (if applicable)


General Description
The District offers internship opportunities for individuals interested in gaining practical experience supporting Classified (non-certificated) operational and administrative functions in a public education environment. Interns may be assigned to a variety of departments based on District needs and intern interests, including but not limited to, Facilities/Construction; Maintenance & Operations; Technology Services; Human Resources; Business Services; Student Services support functions; Communications; and other Classified support areas.


Interns work under the direction of an assigned supervisor and may support time-limited projects, administrative functions, and operational initiatives. Internship assignments are designed to provide meaningful learning experiences while supporting District goals. This internship is intended to supplement existing staff capacity and support project-based work; it is not designed to replace or displace bargaining unit work or regular staff positions.

Primary Responsibilities

  • General
    • Responsibilities may vary by department and assignment, but may include:
    • Support assigned Classified projects, initiatives, and operational tasks under supervisor guidance
    • Assist with organizing information, tracking progress, and supporting timelines for department projects
    • Perform basic administrative support functions such as filing, scanning, data entry, and document
      preparation
    • Communicate professionally with District staff and, when appropriate, vendors or community partners
    • Support meeting logistics (scheduling, preparing materials, taking notes, tracking action items)
    • Assist with basic research, reporting, and/or development of process documentation
    • Follow District procedures, workplace expectations, and safety requirements
    • Use common workplace technology tools (email, calendar, spreadsheets, shared drives, internal
      systems)
    • Maintain confidentiality and professionalism when handling District information
    • Perform other related duties as assigned within the scope of the internship
  • Internship-specific
    • Site visits to verify as-built conditions taking detailed notes to create a facility database
    • Attend weekly construction project meetings
    • Log and record construction related activities and expenses
    • Enhance communications on behalf of the Bond Construction Team and Information Technology
    • Documenting as-built conditions across the district Log site details
    • Manage a complex database with site information
    • Transpose documents and various data points to electronic database  
    • Attend construction related meetings to take notes and assist with project record keeping
    • Record and organize historic drawings and project documents
    • Assist with weekly newsletters and communication to site leaders

 Interns will have the opportunity to gain experience in school operations, business management, construction management, information technology, and project management.

Knowledge of:

    • Ability to accurately take measurements in the field using basic tools (tape measure, laser measure, digital wheel measuring device)
    • Ability to input data into a spreadsheet using a laptop or table device Knowledge of district's computer applications (e.g., Microsoft, Google Office Suite, Aeries, QCC), and modern office methods and practices
    • Strong writing skills; appropriate use of spelling, grammar, and punctuation
    • Office environment 50% of time
    • Site walks and construction site meetings 50%
    • Must be able to drive and operate personal vehicle to drive to school sites, valid driver's license
       

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred (or currently enrolled in an educational program)
  • Coursework or experience related to business, technology, facilities, construction, human resources, public administration, or similar fields is helpful but not required
  • Prior work experience, volunteer experience, internships, or leadership activities are desirable


Working Conditions 
Working conditions vary by department assignment and may include:

  • Primarily indoor office environment for administrative-based internships
  • May include occasional work in school sites, operational workspaces, or field locations, depending on the assignment
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods
  • Ability to use a computer and standard office equipment
  • Ability to communicate effectively in person and through digital platforms
  • Ability to lift and carry materials (typically up to 25 lbs.) may be required for some assignments
  • May require walking across work sites or school campuses, depending on internship placement
