Qualifications:
- Hold an unencumbered Indiana Registered Nurse License
- Must have a BSN or similar to qualify to teach dual credit
- Be eligible for an Indiana Career and Technical Education teaching license based on meeting the required education and work experience.
- Be eligible for licensing based upon 5 years work experience in the healthcare field.
- Must be willing to participate in continuing professional development.
- Have enthusiasm for Career and Technical Education.
- Have outstanding communication skills.
- Have experience assisting students to make viable, realistic career decisions.
- Have organizational skills.
- Have verifiable work experience in long term healthcare.
- Have the ability to develop curriculum and lessons based upon the skills required in the healthcare industry that employers are demanding.
- Have the ability to develop partnerships with area health care services.
- Have the ability to work within all guidelines of the Porter County Education Services.
- Must have experience in a long term healthcare facility

Building Principal for instructional issues
Director of Career and Technical Education for curriculum issues
Job Goals:
Provide instruction in all aspects of the healthcare industry. Assist students in enhancing their skills in the areas necessary to seek employment in the healthcare field. Integrate the instruction of basic skills into the curriculum, as well as, teach employability skills such as working with others, good attendance, and a positive work ethic. Prepare students for entry level employment in health care or for post-secondary study. Supervise student clinical rotations. Assist students to be successful in school by monitoring their technical, basic skills, and achievement. Assist students in developing their career education plans, and instruct students in resume writing and interview skills.
Performance Responsibilities:
- Organize and take responsibility for an effective program advisory committee.
- Develop and implement a curriculum within guidelines of the State Department of Education and Porter County Career and Technical Education System.
- Establish relationships with area health care providers to establish student clinical placements.
- Maintain current license status and perform the necessary continuing education required to maintain and upgrade licensure.
- Represent the Career and Technical Education program with a high degree of professionalism.
- Direct the instruction of assigned students.
- Perform all regular and customary duties of a classroom teacher, maintain student discipline, perform required record keeping, inventory equipment and supplies, and perform student attendance keeping responsibilities.
- Assist in the performance of all standard and related tasks of corporation teachers.
- Assist in the maintenance of all necessary paperwork and records for the class.
- Maintain communication with teaching colleagues and the Career and Technical Education Department.
- Complete tasks required to maintain certification for dual credit
- Perform other duties as directed by the administration.
Terms of Employment:
This position will follow the approved sponsoring corporation calendar (185 days). Other contractual obligations will be assumed based upon the standard teaching agreement.
Evaluation:
Performance on this job shall be evaluated annually by the Building Principal, Director of Career and Technical Education, per procedure established by the Porter County Education Services Board.
