Lewis -Palmer School District Transportation team is looking for a Lead Mechanic. Candidates will ensure the entire School District vehicle fleet is maintained in a safe, reliable, and economical manner by performing scheduled and unscheduled maintenance and repairs to district vehicles to include school buses, trucks, vans and all support equipment. Candidates will perform inspections using specific procedures set by both the district and state requirements, while also maintaining the schedule for preventative maintenance programs and conducting road testing to determine road ability. This position will help maintain shop cleanliness and also provide on-the-job training to bus drivers when requested. High school diploma or equivalent required. Must have a minimum of two years of experience in the automotive repair industry. Must also have a minimum of 1 year brake experience, brake related training, or any combination in brake maintenance or inspection. Previous experience with air brakes, electronic diagnostics, and bus/truck repair is preferred. Must be willing and able to maintain a valid CDL type B license with P2-S endorsement to transport students when necessary. ASE school bus certification is desired. Must also be able to obtain and maintain a CDE Inspector Certification within the 1st year of employment.
The salary range for this position will be $24.69 - $26.67. This position will work on a 261 day calendar.
