POSITION: MCJROTC- Senior Marine Instructor
LOCATION: Woodbridge High School
REPORTS TO: Building Principal

JOB SUMMARY:
Woodbridge High School is seeking a dedicated Senior Marine Instructor (SMI) to lead and manage our Marine Corps Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps (MCJROTC) program. The SMI plays a vital role in mentoring cadets, delivering curriculum-based instruction, and promoting leadership, citizenship, and community service in accordance with U.S. Marine Corps and district guidelines.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Must hold at least a Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution (Master's degree preferred).
- Must be certified as a Marine Corps JROTC Instructor by the Marine Corps Training and Education Command.
- Must meet one of the following Marine Corps service categories:
- Category I – Commissioned Officers with 18 or more years of active duty service.
- Category II – Reserve Officers with 20 years of honorable service.
- Category III – Officers with 8 or more years of active duty service, separated from service for no more than 5 years.
- Category IV – Active Reserve Officers.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide leadership and oversight for the MCJROTC program, ensuring compliance with Marine Corps standards and school district policies.
- Instruct cadets using the Marine Corps-approved Program of Instruction (POI).
- Develop and support co-curricular teams such as drill, academic, physical fitness, and cyber/leadership teams.
- Organize and participate in community service events, competitions, and school functions, including occasional evening and weekend commitments.
- Collaborate with school leadership, parents, and community stakeholders to promote program awareness and cadet success.
- Maintain accurate records and accountability of all equipment and instructional materials.
- Encourage cadet participation in post-secondary education and scholarship opportunities.
- Foster a cadet-led learning environment that emphasizes responsibility, character, and discipline.
- MCJROTC Instructor will oversee MCJROTC drill, marksmanship, and color guard teams.
- Other duties as assigned
Employment is contingent upon successful completion of all required background checks and clearances with the Marine Corp and Woodbridge School District.
Salary will be determined based on the candidate's education, experience, and demonstrated qualifications, in accordance with district policies and salary structures and MCJROTC Minimum Instructor Pay (MIP).

WORKING CONDITIONS AND EXPECTATIONS:
This is a 10-month position based on a 188-day annual teacher contract. Employees are expected to work 7.5 hours per day, consistent with the established school and district schedules. Responsibilities may include duties beyond instructional time, such as meetings, professional development, extracurricular activities, and school-related events. Employees are expected to maintain regular attendance, fulfill all assigned responsibilities, and demonstrate flexibility to meet the evolving needs of students, staff, and the district.
In addition to the 188 contracted school-year days, MCJROTC instructors are required to work an additional 37 days annually aligned with the district's 12-month employee calendar. These additional workdays are intended to support program operations, training, administrative responsibilities, student activities, and other MCJROTC-related duties during non-school periods, including summer months.
