Description

Job Title:  Student & Family Engagement Summer Program's Assistant
Payment Rate:  In accordance with the USD 443 Salary Schedule 
Evaluation & Benefits: In accordance with the USD 443 Classified Handbook
FLSA Status:  Non-Exempt
Reports To: Family Engagement Coordinator
PURPOSE: The Summer Program's Assistant will assist with a range of administrative, logistical and program support duties.
EMPLOYMENT QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associate's degree or equivalent preferred; or three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience:

  • Bilingual Spanish/English reading, writing, translating, and speaking required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:

  • Ability to work independently without direct supervision.
  • Excellent human relations skills with desire to interact with parents, students, staff, and the public.
  • Knowledge of community social services and family support agencies in order to provide appropriate referral information to individuals and/or families.
  • Ability to provide training to staff and parents regarding program requirements, special services, and computer processes, etc.
  • Problem solving and organizational skills.
  • Ability to attend to details.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Excellent computer skills, strong communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Ability to manage difficult or emotional customer situations; Responds promptly to customer needs; Responds to requests for service and assistance.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Assist with camp registrations and communications with families
  • Coordinate schedules, materials, and logistics for camps and events
  • Support in the managing of transportation and field trip organization
  • Support the summer literacy project and Jumpstart summer school logistics
  • Setup, prepare and provide on-site support during events
  • Support with home visits and literacy packets delivery
  • Support the philosophy of the ESOL & Diversity Program




PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORK ENVIRONMENT: 

 

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk and hear.
  • The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk and reach with hands and arms.
  • The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • The work environment is in an office setting.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
