NEW FAIRFIELD BOARD OF EDUCATION
POSITION: Orchestra Teacher (Elementary)
SCHOOL: New Fairfield Elementary School
New Fairfield Public Schools is seeking an energetic, highly motivated, and dynamic Orchestra Teacher to join our music department and support a strong elementary orchestra program. The Orchestra Teacher will be responsible for leading, developing, and nurturing elementary orchestra ensembles while fostering students' musical, artistic, and personal growth through creativity, collaboration, and musical excellence.
GENERAL DUTIES:
- Teach instrumental lessons across string instruments
- Direct orchestra at grade and/or school level
- Develop and implement a comprehensive music / orchestra curriculum for elementary students, with a repertoire of varied genres matched to learning goals
- Plan, organize, and conduct concerts, with a minimum of two concert performances
- Promote orchestra program through performances in the community as appropriate
- Collaborate with K-12 district music staff to foster program growth and development
- Promote interest and enthusiasm for the orchestra program among students and the community
- Communicate proactively with staff and families
- Maintain music repertoire, instrument supplies, and equipment
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and QUALIFICATIONS
- Knowledge of current instrumental music teaching methods and educational pedagogy for elementary-aged children
- Knowledge of differentiation in instruction based upon student learning needs
- Use ongoing assessment approaches to monitor student progress and inform instruction
- Provide feedback to students for goal-setting, reflection, and growth
- Demonstrate proficiency on multiple string instruments
- CT certification 049-Music
SALARY: Per the NFEA Contract
