SUMMARY: 

Provide leadership and guidance in the implementation, evaluation of instruction, assessment, curriculum, resource utilization and daily programming for students in early childhood education (3-8 year old) programs.  Provide knowledge, guidance, and support to building level administrators and staff in the areas of early childhood developmental guidelines, environmental structures and supports, best practices for inclusive early childhood classrooms, assessment requirements (including use and analysis) and the implementation of a guaranteed and viable curriculum. Collaborate with Learning Services to ensure the implementation of high-quality programming for all students, including students with disabilities, along with a continuum of services for special education.

JOB TASK DESCRIPTIONS:
1.    Provide leadership and support for the ongoing professional development of the ECE staff, building administrators and coaches to build the capacity of early childhood teams (general and special education) in implementing a guaranteed and viable curriculum to all students, providing developmentally appropriate instruction, learning opportunities, classroom management strategies and interventions.
2.    Establish and maintain professional learning communities for administrative, certified and classified employee groups in early childhood to support with the planning for, implementation of, and reflection of the guaranteed and viable curriculum, units of study, and data driven protocols. Serve as a problem solver, advocate and sense maker to all ECE stakeholders and district-level staff to ensure the full integration of early childhood in the district and schools.
3.    Provide leadership to building administrators and other critical building stakeholders for the implementation of high-quality programming using compliance of CDEC (Colorado Department of Early Childhood), UPK (Universal Preschool), childcare site licensure, health regulations, and continuous evaluation of preschool classroom environments.
4.    Provide leadership and professional development for administrative, certified and classified employee groups in early childhood in the administration and interpretation of benchmark and formative assessments to inform instructional decisions and to ensure consistency and reliability in early childhood assessment practices.
5.    Actively engage in proactive structures and communication pathways to encourage involvement and maintain supportive relationships with families and outside agencies in support of all early childhood students.
6.    Ensure staff development and quality programming for students by supporting the hiring of staff in accordance with district procedures, state rules and federal regulations.
7.    Recommend funding allocations of early childhood supplies, materials and equipment including grant opportunities.
8.    Perform other duties as assigned.
 

EDUCATION AND RELATED WORK EXPERIENCE:
    Master's degree in early childhood education, early childhood special education, or related field, or a Principal License is required. 
    Teaching license required.
    Minimum of three (3) years of experience working with children under five years of age who have diverse abilities and needs.  This may include three (3) years of experience working in a P-5 or P-8 school.
    Experience with supervision and/or coaching of early childhood education professionals preferred.
 

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS or CERTIFICATIONS:
    Criminal background check required for hire.
    Colorado Department of Education administrator license or must be obtained within 12 months of hire.
    Must be willing to obtain Colorado Department of Human Services Director Qualification or a Level IV Early Childhood Professional Credential within one year of hire.
    Must successfully complete current district training for supervision of Classified Staff within six months of entering position.

SALARY INFORMATION:
