General Job Description:
Supervises District's custodians to ensure that the cleaning and preventative maintenance of District facilities meet proper safety and health standards and cleaning expectations, and that the custodial services are efficient, timely, and that custodial supplies are properly stocked and utilized. The assistant supervisor ensures that all custodial personnel perform at prescribed standards and meet District expectations. The assistant supervisor reports to the Custodial Supervisor.
The essential functions of this position require prioritizing and completing all assigned tasks in a timely and efficient manner, adjusting for changing priorities and availability of resources, and demonstrating initiative in identifying additional job-related tasks to be completed when time permits. These duties are a representation of the position expectations. Actual duties assigned may vary depending on the Operations department, Custodial Department, and the School District.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Works directly with groups and individual shift custodians to establish and maintain efficient work schedules to meet the cleaning needs of the District's facilities while also meeting established cleaning expectations. Will make recommendations for improved techniques, equipment, and tips to meet these expectations in the time allotted.
2. Directs custodians and substitute custodians on a daily basis for individual school needs. May establish/adjust custodial work schedules to meet operational needs/changes in custodial support requirements.
3. Will ensure assigned staff use the methods, procedures, and standards set by the Supervisor for the performance of custodial work.
4. Will train staff to ensure they keep appropriate inventory levels and the proper use of custodial equipment and supplies.
5. Will work with the Supervisor to develop and present District-wide custodial training programs including but not limited to procedural and safety training.
6. Works with the Custodial Supervisor to help with the testing and evaluation of District's custodial supplies and equipment.
7. Interviews, recommends hiring, trains and recommends termination of custodial personnel in consultation with building administrators and Custodial Supervisor. Evaluates individual custodial work performance.
8. Ensures custodial compliance with regulatory agencies and statutes.
9. Assists in responding to security and emergencies during the day, night, and weekends as needed.
10. Will be on rotation to respond to emergencies on a 24-hour basis.
11. Lead and guide activities and decisions with a racial and cultural equity mindset and lens.
12. Performs other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities: This position has supervisory responsibilities, in coordination with Custodial Supervisor.

• Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions, including containment and notice to supervisor hazardous materials.
Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of an organization.
Understanding of basic bookkeeping principles necessary to maintain records and filing systems including alphabetical, numerical, and chronological is strongly preferred.
If multi-lingual or bi-lingual, must be willing and ready to utilize skills when working with staff, community members and/or guardians.
Equipment/Technology Handled: The job requires computer skills. Must be adept at using various applications including database, spreadsheet, report writing, project management, and communicate by e-mail.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Work Environment/Physical Requirements: Moderate to extensive degree of physical stamina and frequent lifting up to 50 pounds and occasional lifting of up to 100 pounds. Frequent and prolonged standing, walking and bending. Ability to climb ladders, work from heights, stretch and bend to perform general maintenance. Ability to lift furniture, desks, shelving, staging, and cleaning supplies and equipment. Shall be physically capable of performing all necessary tasks: stooping, reaching, pushing, pulling, climbing, lifting, and crawling. Exposure to chemicals, dirt, dust, paint, noise, and activity of a school setting. Ability to move freely around the school building and grounds. Exposure to outdoor weather conditions.
FLSA Status: Non Exempt
Schedule: 12 months per year - District Wide Manager Salary Schedule.
