Description:
Special Education Case Manager (IEP Writer), Teacher, 8 hours a day for 185 Contract Days

Job Summary:
Provide support by assisting with student evaluations, IEP development and data management.

IEP Development and Compliance

  • Drafting IEPs: Writing specific, measurable goals based on data and current performance levels.
  • Progress Monitoring: Regularly collecting data to track if a student is meeting their goals and reporting this to parents quarterly.
  • Legal Compliance: Ensuring all timelines are met for annual reviews and three-year re-evaluations to keep the school district "in compliance."

Coordination and Collaboration

  • Facilitating Meetings: Leading IEP meetings, which involves inviting parents, administrators, general education teachers, and specialists (OT, PT, Speech).
  • Consultation: Meeting with special education and general education teachers to ensure they understand and are implementing the accommodations and modifications required by law.
  • Service Coordination: Ensuring that "related services" (like counseling or physical therapy) are actually happening as scheduled.

Assessment and Data Collection

  • Evaluations: Administering academic achievement tests (like the Woodcock-Johnson or WIAT) during the re-evaluation process.
  • Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBA): Observing students to determine the "why" behind challenging behaviors and drafting Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs).
  • Data-Driven Instruction: Using formal and informal assessment data to pivot teaching strategies when a student isn't making progress.

Advocacy and Transition

  • Student Advocacy: Ensuring the student's voice is heard, especially as they get older and begin attending their own IEP meetings.
  • Transition Planning: For students aged 14–16+, you help coordinate "Transition Services," which might include vocational training, college prep, or independent living skills.

Pay & Benefits: 
The pay range for this position is $56,000-103,000 annually. Competitive and comprehensive benefit package available:

Qualifications:

  • EBD, DCD, ASD, or ABS license with experience as a classroom special education teacher is preferred.
  • Experience with multiple instructional designs and differentiated instruction.
  • Strong writing skills.
  • Ability to build successful relationships with students, parents and staff.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate with teams.
  • Strong due process skills and IEP knowledge
