Job Summary:
The Monument Academy Human Resources Director will be committed to supporting Monument Academy's overall educational philosophy and 7 Tenets.The Human Resources Director oversees compensation & rewards, learning & development, performance management, employee relations, and compliance and will also partner with key stakeholders to build exceptional people management practices and ensure a strong, inclusive, and people-first work culture.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Human Resources Assistant
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Recruits, interviews, hires, and trains new staff.
- Oversees the daily workflow of the department.
- Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations.
- Handles discipline and termination of employees in accordance with school policy. Designs and manages a comprehensive role-aligned performance evaluation process including the implementation of performance improvement plans.
- Identifies training needs and delivers best-in-class professional development opportunities across the organization.
- Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local workplace labor laws, training, certification, health clearance, and various reporting requirements.
- Reviews and updates personnel policies and makes recommendations for changes to the employee handbook as needed to ensure adherence to statutory and mandatory requirements as well as alignment with organizational culture and values.
- Oversees personnel record keeping and data tracking, and background checking related to new hires and employees, including but not limited to reviews, promotions, complaints, separations, benefits, worker's compensation claims, leaves of absence, credentialing, and exit interviews.
- Manages and negotiates employee benefit programs and external relationships for all plans including medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurance, worker's compensation, supplemental 457 and Roth retirement plans, Flexible Spending Plans, short-term leave of absence processing, and unemployment compensation.
- Creates and manages salary ranges for positions to support internal equity across functions and alignment with market pay.
- Reviews and revises compensation strategy bi-annually to meet budget requirements and support staff retention.
- Ensures all local, State, and National ordinances are reflected in benefits offering and administration and manage the open enrollment process.
- Analyzes talent data and utilizes insights to drive retention of high-performing team members through rewards, recognition, and other data-informed incentives.
- Drives processes and monitors systems for gathering employee feedback and addressing employee concerns.
- Manages employee investigations, responds to complaints, and completes all necessary follow-up promptly.
- Coaches and advises supervisors in best practices, strategies, and policies for addressing employee issues.
- Oversees all aspects of separations including working with supervisors and staff to complete process and procedures in compliance with all applicable state and federal law.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

Education & Experience:
- A bachelor's degree in business administration or human resources, or equivalent experience.
- K-12 school human resources experience preferred.
- A minimum of 3 years of human resources, HRIS or related experience with three to five years' supervisory experience.
- SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) or SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) credential preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
