Middle School / High School STEM Teacher

Wilmington Christian Academy

Position Summary

Wilmington Christian Academy is seeking a dynamic, innovative, and Christ-centered STEM Teacher to serve students in Middle School and High School grades. The ideal candidate will inspire students through engaging instruction in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics while integrating biblical principles into the learning experience. This teacher will foster critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, and problem-solving skills that prepare students for future academic and career success.


Essential Responsibilities

Instruction & Curriculum

  • Teach STEM-related courses for middle school and high school students, which may include science, technology, engineering, robotics, coding, mathematics, or related electives.
  • Develop and implement engaging, hands-on lessons and project-based learning experiences.
  • Integrate technology and real-world applications into classroom instruction.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet diverse student learning needs and abilities.
  • Utilize assessments and data to monitor student progress and guide instruction.
  • Encourage inquiry, innovation, collaboration, and analytical thinking.

Classroom Environment

  • Create and maintain a safe, organized, and engaging learning environment.
  • Establish clear classroom expectations and effective classroom management practices.
  • Promote student responsibility, teamwork, and respect.
  • Foster a classroom culture that encourages curiosity and academic excellence.

Spiritual Leadership

  • Integrate a biblical worldview into STEM instruction and classroom interactions.
  • Model Christ-like character, professionalism, and servant leadership.
  • Lead students in prayer, devotions, and spiritual growth opportunities.
  • Encourage students to use their gifts and talents for God's glory and service to others.

Communication & Collaboration

  • Maintain consistent and professional communication with parents regarding student progress and classroom activities.
  • Collaborate with administration, faculty, and staff to support student achievement and school initiatives.
  • Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, school events, and extracurricular activities as assigned.

Program Development

  • Support and expand STEM initiatives, clubs, competitions, and enrichment opportunities.
  • Assist in maintaining STEM lab equipment, classroom technology, and instructional resources.
  • Stay current with advancements in STEM education and instructional best practices.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, STEM-related field, or related discipline required.
  • Appropriate teaching license/certification preferred.
  • Prior middle school and/or high school teaching experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of STEM instructional practices, educational technology, and project-based learning.
  • Ability to teach multiple STEM subject areas preferred.
  • Strong classroom management, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Personal commitment to Jesus Christ and agreement with the school's statement of faith and mission.
