Elementary Physical Education Teacher - Grades 3-5

Description:  0.7 FTE teaching position in a GRADES 3-5 PHYSICAL EDUCATION.

Job Summary: 

• Demonstrate a strong commitment to helping each child develop pride in personal accomplishments in physical education.
• Engage students in movement through cooperation and teamwork.
• Engage students in critical thinking and help them make connections to other content areas through dialogue and participation.
• Solid understanding and successful experience in assessment in physical education.
• Provide ongoing support and encouragement through instruction and assessments.
• Collaborate with other teachers to design and coordinate common assessments and utilize data to target student developmental needs.
• Participate in regular PLC meetings as an active and engaged professional.
• Communicate frequently with parents, colleagues, students, and administrators through all available means of technology.
• Establish and maintain high standards for character and academic growth.

Qualifications:

• Current Minnesota teaching license required.
• Experience working with upper elementary students preferred.
• Effective classroom management skills.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Demonstrated experience in collaboration and problem-solving.
• Experience with curriculum and assessment design.
• Understanding of the role of parent involvement and the ability to collaborate with parents.
• Ability to use technology as an instructional tool.

Bargaining Group and Level:  Orono Education Association/Teachers

COMPENSATION - Prorated to FTE

Full Year, Full Time

BA Step 1 (51,256) to EdS Step 20 ($110,239)
