TITLE: Academic Interventionist

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Must be certified by the State of Delaware Department of Education.
  2. Dual certification in Special Education is desirable.
  3. Master's degree or equivalent is desirable.
  4. Minimum 5 years of classroom teaching experience.
  5. Experience in administering, analyzing and interpreting data.
  6. Thorough knowledge of tiered systems of intervention - Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS)
  7. Excellent organizational and management skills.
  8. Excellent oral and written communication, facilitation, interpersonal, and collaboration skills.

 

REPORTS TO: School Principal (or Assistant Principal)

 

JOB GOAL: To provide services to administrators, counselors, teachers, parents and students in the area of basic, developmental and advanced academic skills including informal and/or standardized measures to diagnose the strengths and needs of individuals and/or groups. The Interventionist will also provide support for tiered levels of interventions (MTSS).

 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Plans and provides intervention services in the areas of reading and/or math to identified students.
  2. Develops and implements effective research based intervention strategies to meet the needs of all students.
  3. Interprets assessment scores and plans appropriate programs.
  4. Promotes the content relevance and effectiveness in terms of established objectives.
  5. Records and analyzes student progress using qualitative and quantitative data.
  6. Helps to develop ongoing assessment measures and interprets standardized test scores in relation to school objectives.
  7. Research and identify appropriate curriculum based measurement tools to provide frequent monitoring of student progress.
  8. Creates a classroom environment that is conductive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interest of the students.
  9. Serves as a resource to teachers in identifying student needs, adapting instructional techniques, and selecting appropriate materials.
  10. Is a key contributor to the School Leadership Team.
  11. Consult with parents and teachers regarding student progress.
  12. Supports the engagement of families and community in academic based activities.
  13. Works with teachers to plan, demonstrate, and team teach using effective research based teaching strategies.
  14. Other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor.

 

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Required to attend school meetings, programs and activities outside of the instructional day per the LFEA agreement. 

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Ten months.

 

EVALUATION: Performance will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Professional Personnel.
 
The following are conditions of employment for new employees:

  1. Satisfactory criminal background check prior to being placed on payroll.
  2. Satisfactory child protection registry check.
  3. Mandatory direct deposit of pay
  4. Documentation of Mantoux skin test results for entrance to school system.

All applicants are required to submit three (3) letters of reference, with one from an immediate supervisor that is dated within the past year. Applicants are advised that a copy of the most recent evaluation will be requested if selected for an interview. The evaluation can be loaded as part of the application in advance.
