Description

The Plum Borough School District is seeking a passionate, reflective, and inquiry-driven educator to serve as a Long Term Substitute - Speech Language Pathologist  (Grades PK-12).  The Speech-Language Pathologist PK-12 is a skilled educational specialist who supports students in developing the communication skills necessary for academic success and meaningful participation in school and life. 

 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Conduct assessments to identify communication disorders and determine educational impact.
  • Provide diagnostic, prescriptive, and therapeutic services aligned to student needs.
  • Develop and implement individualized education programs IEPs in accordance with IDEA, Chapter 14, and PDE regulations.
  • Deliver services through a range of models, including direct, consultative, and classroom-based support.
  • Collaborate with general and special education staff, families, and related service providers to support communication across environments.
  • Support access to curriculum by embedding communication strategies within instructional settings.
  • Address communication needs across speaking, listening, reading, writing, and social interaction, including the use of augmentative and alternative communication when appropriate.
  • Integrate evidence-based practices and assistive technology to enhance outcomes.
  • Monitor progress, analyze data, and adjust instruction and intervention accordingly.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary teams, including evaluation, IEP development, and progress monitoring.
  • Maintain accurate and compliant documentation.
  • Contribute to a standards-aligned system through coordination of curriculum, instruction, assessment, and intervention practices.
  • Provide consultation and training to staff and families.
  • Engage in ongoing professional learning aligned with district priorities and professional standards.
  • May serve as teacher of record for students identified with speech and language impairments when assigned.

     

Qualifications

  • Valid Pennsylvania certification in School Speech and Language Pathologist PK-12 (CSPG 86).
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence CCC-SLP from ASHA required
  • Pennsylvania State License in Speech-Language Pathology
  • Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology or Communication Sciences and Disorders from a program aligned with ASHA standards.
