Long Term Substitute - Speech Language Pathologist PK-12 (August 2026-June 2027)
Description
The Plum Borough School District is seeking a passionate, reflective, and inquiry-driven educator to serve as a Long Term Substitute - Speech Language Pathologist (Grades PK-12). The Speech-Language Pathologist PK-12 is a skilled educational specialist who supports students in developing the communication skills necessary for academic success and meaningful participation in school and life.
Primary Responsibilities
- Conduct assessments to identify communication disorders and determine educational impact.
- Provide diagnostic, prescriptive, and therapeutic services aligned to student needs.
- Develop and implement individualized education programs IEPs in accordance with IDEA, Chapter 14, and PDE regulations.
- Deliver services through a range of models, including direct, consultative, and classroom-based support.
- Collaborate with general and special education staff, families, and related service providers to support communication across environments.
- Support access to curriculum by embedding communication strategies within instructional settings.
- Address communication needs across speaking, listening, reading, writing, and social interaction, including the use of augmentative and alternative communication when appropriate.
- Integrate evidence-based practices and assistive technology to enhance outcomes.
- Monitor progress, analyze data, and adjust instruction and intervention accordingly.
- Participate in multidisciplinary teams, including evaluation, IEP development, and progress monitoring.
- Maintain accurate and compliant documentation.
- Contribute to a standards-aligned system through coordination of curriculum, instruction, assessment, and intervention practices.
- Provide consultation and training to staff and families.
- Engage in ongoing professional learning aligned with district priorities and professional standards.
May serve as teacher of record for students identified with speech and language impairments when assigned.
Qualifications
- Valid Pennsylvania certification in School Speech and Language Pathologist PK-12 (CSPG 86).
- Certificate of Clinical Competence CCC-SLP from ASHA required
- Pennsylvania State License in Speech-Language Pathology
- Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology or Communication Sciences and Disorders from a program aligned with ASHA standards.
