Job Description
Under the direction of the Special Education Director, the Special Education Coach builds and maintains supportive partnerships with special education teachers, related service providers, administrators, district specialists, and school teams in Prek-post high settings. Collaboratively support needs-based learning, educator growth, and improved student outcomes. Supports staff in the implementation of evidence-based academic and behavioral practices. Supports teams in the implementation of compliance-aligned systems, inclusive service delivery models, and effective use of instructional and assistive resources to increase student engagement, access, learning opportunities, and meaningful growth for both students and educators.



  Qualifications:

  • Holds and maintains a current Utah Special Education license.
  • Completed a minimum of seven (7) years experience in special education.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of IDEA requirements.
  • Proficient in evidence-based instruction, classroom management, and individual behavior support.
  • Comfortable presenting professional development topics to small and large groups.
  • Commitment to lifelong learning and continuous improvement.
  • Basic knowledge of web-based instructional, assessment, productivity, and multimedia tools.
  • Coaching endorsement or coaching experience preferred.



 Essential Functions:

  • Cultivate strong professional relationships while managing multiple priorities, projects, and requests to ensure efficient use of time and resources.
  • Collaborate with school and district leaders to promote inclusive practices, effective service delivery models, and compliance with IDEA and related requirements.
  • Partner with educators and teams to design, implement, and refine special education.
  • Build teacher capacity through ongoing instructional coaching cycles for special education teachers to strengthen practice, support professional growth, and improve student outcomes.
  • Model and co-develop effective, evidence-based instructional strategies, including cooperative learning, student-centered practices, differentiation, and behavior supports.
  • Support teachers interpreting data and assessment to drive instruction.
  • Facilitate professional learning for special education staff, collaborative teams, and administrators, tailored to identified needs and priorities.
