Preschool Social Worker
Position Available for the 2026-2027 School Year

Description:
The Preschool Social Worker shall support the implementation of our preschool program by providing comprehensive family services in accordance with New Jersey Department of Education's preschool program expectations. The Social Worker will collaborate with district staff and community agencies to ensure access to services, promote family involvement, and support the healthy development and well-being of preschool children.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with preschool instructional staff, administrators, and support personnel to implement family services, consistent with NJDOE preschool program guidelines.
- Establish relationships with families, identify their strengths and needs, and support family engagement.
- Coordinate with school district staff and community agencies to assess individual family needs, provide resources and advocacy, and secure appropriate services.
- Facilitate access to community-based social services (ex: health, mental health, nutrition, housing), as needed.
- Support diverse families in understanding child development (ex: social-emotional growth, early learning standards, nutrition, health, safety practices) and demonstrate cultural competence.
- Provide ongoing follow-up services to families to ensure continuity of care.
- Collaborate with school district personnel to develop, implement, and evaluate a parent involvement program based on family needs assessments and parent survey data, in alignment with NJDOE requirements.
- Maintain documentation of family contacts, referrals, and services in accordance with district procedures and NJDOE monitoring requirements.
- Participate in team meetings, as appropriate, to support comprehensive services for children and families.
- Collaborate with and meet regularly with Preschool Intervention and Referral Specialists (PIRS), Preschool Instructional Coaches (PIC), and Community Parent Involvement Specialist (CPIS).
- Participate in PIRS & PIC meetings and facilitate meetings with families to discuss child progress, provide referrals, and follow-up on interventions.
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards.
Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Social Work (MSW) or related field
- Must possess NJDOE School Social Worker certification #3200
- Experience working with preschool-aged children and families in educational or community settings, preferred
Remuneration:
Salary will be in accordance with the current KEA contract and paid for through PEA funds.
