2026-2027 School Psychologist PK-5

 

 

Reports To: Director of Special Education

Employment Status: Full Time

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Qualifications: 1.  Valid driver's license.

2. Valid Ohio or national school psychologist license.

3. Demonstrates a sincere desire to aid all students.

4. Good health, high moral character, and good attendance record.

General Description: Facilitates the adjustment of children through the use of psychological techniques.  Effort is made to contribute to the understanding of learning difficulties, social and emotional problems, and to aid in the utilization of available school and community resources to meet each child's needs.

 Essential Functions:

1. Maintain records as required district policy; maintain professional ethics.

2. Evaluates intellectual, social, academic, and adaptive behavior of children referred by school officials, parents, and community agencies.

3. Participates in the identification and placement of handicapped children as prescribed in Ohio Department of Education standards.

4. Maintains an adequate system of records and communications conductive to the functioning of a school psychologist, including the writing of clear and concise reports.

5. Participates as a member of the building MTSS team including leading daily in-person meetings.

6. Provides counseling service for individual or small groups with students, teachers, or parents.

7. Interprets the results of group tests, performs research, completes special studies, and formulates appropriate and practical suggestions for teacher and parent usage.           

8. Provides consultant service to school officials and community agencies, including in-service meetings for school staff and parents as requested.

9. Cooperates with all central office staff.

10. Strives for rapport with all school personnel and other education-related agencies.

11. Grows in competence and knowledge through attendance at professional meetings and study of professional literature. 

12. Recommends appropriate classroom management strategies for behavior management.

13. Serves as a resource person to the school staff, parents, and the community in developing better understanding and application of the principles of child development, learning, mental health, and individual differences.

14. Participates in the development and implementation of new educational programs.

15. Prepares formal studies and reports of services.

 

Other Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Serves as a role model for students in how to conduct themselves as citizens and as responsible, intelligent human beings.
  2. Helps instill in students the belief in and practice of ethical principles and democratic values; and
  3. Conducts other duties related to the psychologist's duties as assigned by the assistant superintendent or local superintendent of schools.

 

ADDITIONAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

1. Occasional exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and tissue.

2. Occasional operation of a vehicle under inclement weather conditions.

3. Occasional interaction among unruly children.

 

Compensation:

1. Competitive salary based on experience, full health benefits and retirement package (SERS with 10% pickup on the pickup on an Admin contract).
