Newcastle Public Schools – Four-Day Instructional Week
Newcastle Public Schools is seeking a creative, energetic, and student-centered Elementary School Librarian for the 2026–2027 school year. We are looking for an educator passionate about fostering a love of reading, developing information literacy, and managing a modern media center within our progressive, four-day instructional week district.
Minimum Qualifications:
Valid Oklahoma teaching certification in School Library Media Specialist (PK-12).
Ability to manage a library environment that is welcoming, organized, and technologically integrated.
Commitment to promoting literacy and supporting student research skills.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills with students, staff, and parents.
Job Responsibilities Include: Planning and delivering a comprehensive, standards-based library media curriculum.
Managing the school’s book collection, digital resources, and library budget.
Collaborating with classroom teachers to integrate literacy and research skills across the curriculum.
Organizing school-wide literacy events (e.g., Book Fairs, reading challenges).
Assisting students and staff in navigating digital tools and information resources.
Active participation in Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) to analyze student data, share instructional strategies, and improve student outcomes.
Collaborating with grade-level teams during PLC time to align library resources with classroom units and essential standards.

Our librarians are key partners in the PLC process, working alongside classroom teachers to ensure that media center goals directly support the district's collaborative culture and academic mission.
