POSITION TITLE: High School Assistant Principal
GRADES: 9-12
STATUS: Full-Time, 12-month position
Position Description:
The Assistant Principal is an administrative position responsible for assisting the Principal in setting and driving the vision for teaching and learning at ASPIRA Charter High School.
Responsibilities:
The Assistant Head of School will be accountable for student learning and achievement and responsible for the following:
Leading all mentoring, instructional coaching, and evaluation of teaching staff with the Principal.
Determining the school-wide instructional focus and professional development plan for the year.
Overseeing the development and implementation of a rigorous, college preparatory curriculum including a vertical scope and sequence aligned to state standards and assessment processes.
Directing the school's standards-based assessment strategies and systems in order to support a data-driven culture.
Establishing performance goals with instructional staff and ensuring goals are met through regular coaching of teachers.
Providing feedback on instructional plans, practices, and strategies to ensure continuous improvement and ongoing development of instructional staff.
Observing teachers, providing instructional coaching and managing teacher performance evaluations with the Principal.
Coordinating academic interventions and supports as needed, as well as scheduling.
Supporting the coordination of internal and state assessment.
Collaborating with other members of the leadership team and stakeholder groups.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Must hold a State of Delaware Principal and Assistant Principal Certification.
Master's degree in a field of Education.
Must have at least five years of successful teaching experience and three years of successful experience in a leadership role.
Experience working with a diverse and multicultural student and staff population.
Must demonstrate leadership skills to coordinate the efforts of teachers, support staff, parents, and community agencies to maximize the personal and intellectual development of students and a strong knowledge and understanding of LAAA's mission and philosophy.
Excellent communication, organizational, and computer skills.
Excellent writing skills.
Knowledge of best practices.
Demonstrated proficiency with technology.
Demonstrated pursuit of continued professional growth.
Knowledge and experience in implementing a standards based curriculum to improve all students' performance.
Successful work history in all educational experiences.
Knowledge of federal, state, and local education related regulations.
Experience in analyzing data and using data to inform instruction.
